Tyler Sapp's Nebraska '66 Monza

Once the restoration was virtually complete, the car was entered in several car shows, and at every competition, took a trophy in the Convertible class. At one of the shows, it was awarded Best GM. Tyler's was the only Corvair at all of the shows he attended, and he was amused by some of the people's responses.

"People would walk by the front of all the cars looking at engines," he told me. "When they came to the Corvair and saw the empty trunk, they'd look puzzled. Some would ask their kids 'Where's the engine? It's gone!' Others were amazed the engine had 4 carburetors."

The interior is as well restored as the exterior, and is Corvair original.

The Monza gauges, speedo, optional clock and gas gauge are housed in the stock black-wrinkle cluster.

The center section houses the original optional push-button AM radio, ignition, ashtray and cigarette lighter.

The four-speed stick sports the original shift knob as well.

Originally beige with a fawn interior, Tyler's Monza now wears a coat of Madeira Maroon and a beige top. He decided to stay with the fawn interior.

Wheel wheel trim was eliminated and rally wheels and black-wall tires were selected to achieve a clean, flowing, performance-oriented appearance.
