This is the most
comprehensive Corvair site that I've seen. It's all the more impressive
seeing as it's a volunteer effort. This is the kind of information that
I would expect to find on the CORSA club site. Maybe they could hire
you to put together a site of similar quality for the Corvair Preservation
Foundation/Corvair Museum (when they find a home). Thanks for the good
work. |
Please add information on Corvair 95 trucks and vans. |
Many years ago, in 1960, I owned one of the very first Monza coupes. I am now retired and looking for a late model convertible to buy, but I am not having much luck locating one this side of California. Any help would be appreciated. Cecil |
A great site. Have had a love for Corvairs for the last 35 years. It's great to see that I am not alone. Keep up the great work. |
Would like information on building a 1962 Corvair Monza. |
Hello Gary, Last autumn, I saw a late model Corvair behind a friend's relatives' barn. I had never seen a Corvair running, so I searched for and found information about the car. This site is very good for that purpose. I knew almost nothing about Corvairs before. Now I think I have some kind of "Corvair fever," and I think I'll have to buy that car. Thanks for the very good site. Antti Paananen |
I'd like info on Corvairs for sale, particularly 1963 Monza 900s. I had one from 1972-1998, and I loved it. |
I like this site very much. All Corvair owners thank you for this site! If only there were more V-8s to add to those listed. John Haney |
Great site. Haven't seen it all yet. So far, no weak points. Don |
Hi, You have a very good site here. Very easy to navigate. I have found a lot of information I was looking for. I currently own a stock '65 Corsa 4-speed with the turbo option. I am looking forward to visiting again. Thanks for the INFO! Chris |
I can't seem to find any sites that will give specs like 0-60 times on factory Corvairs. Great site! |
I just finally bought my very first Corvair yesterday, and what a great purchase! I lucked out and found an almost perfect '66 Corsa! As soon as I spiff her up a bit, I'll e-mail a picture! |
I owned two 1963 Monza 900s. The second one won 3rd Place in current restoration at the 12th Boston World of Wheels event. I'm no longer a Corvair owner, but I still enjoy seeing them at the car shows and sometimes on the road. Thank you and keep up the great work. |
You have done a great job with this site. Thanks. |
Please give all repair/restoration sites for Corvairs. |
My first car was a '66 Monza coupe (110 Powerglide). I bought it in 1982 for $300 with 90,000 miles on it. It ran well and needed some body work under the battery area (a common problem). Unfortunately, my parents made me sell it (too dangerous!). I've missed it ever since. I recently found in a local barn, a '65 Corsa convertible that really only needs paint. It's a 140 with the 4-speed, in Marina Blue. What's it worth? Thanks, |
Great site. Keep up the excellent work. |
This site is awesome and provides a lot of insight into the history, what can be accomplished, and the results of obviously sincere dedication. I would like to see more information on lessons learned, what needs to be done, what is the best way to do certain things (helpful hints and insight from those experienced in the V-8 Corvair), what needs to be changed or modified to make an A-1 butt-kicking, street sleeper. I have not gone through each an every page yet. I am very interested in information on disc brakes, transaxles, the Crown 4-speed shifter, different approaches to engine covers (pictures), existing automobile parts than can be used for the hydraulic clutch, disc brakes, etc. Excellent, excellent website. Larry Crawford |
I keep hearing about and seeing Chevelle parts on Corvairs. Is there a list of parts from other Chevys that fit (bolt on) our Corvairs? Thanks, |
Gary, First, thank you very much. I'm a Canadian transplant to California. Raised in Prescott to 1953, my parents moved to Anaheim, and I've been here every since. Now, at 62, I'm getting back to Corvairs and have three. I'm looking at building a late coupe autocross car, so it would be great if you would provide some racing coverage in addition to your fine coverage of Yenkos and Fitch models. Regards, |
This is the best site on the Web for any subject. Thanks for your hard work. |
This is a very enjoyable website. I'm glad I found it. I have 3 Corvairs: a '60 sedan, a mint '61 Monza coupe, and a '65 Corsa with a 110. I still have the 180, but it needs a total rebuild. |
Great site, Gary... elegant and well designed (don't care for the cute tail of the car for the buttons). Just saw a great priced Corvair Corsa for sale cheap, but did not jump fast enough. Selling my Alfa Romeo to get something a little different to carve up Hwy 1 with. Keep up the good work. Cheers, |
Thanks for all your hard work in keeping alive the Corvair legend. We love our Corvair. |
This is a must see site for anyone that has even a passing interest in Corvairs. |
Maybe I can find some time to help out with a feature on Corvair 95 based campers. I have a '63 Rampside with an original Scamper walk-in camper installed since new. The rig has about 52,000 miles on camping adventures on it. When I take it to shows it really attracts quite a crowd. In addition, the Corvanatics Group has a few members with the Greenbrier conversions of and course, don't forget David Peterson's incredible UltraVan. Drop me a line sometime and we can chat about working up a feature. I have great camera equipment and soon we will have some more sunny days. Thanks for the Corvair passion! Your campin' buddy, PS: Richard Finch (How To Keep Your Corvair Alive) would be a great source of info on Corvairs in general, and Ultras in particular. Let me know if you would like an introduction. |
Gary, Anytime I need some inspiration for changing something on my '65 coupe, I just have to visit your pages, and something gets my creative juices flowing. Thanks for a great job! Adam Miles |
Getting ready to do a Crown Corv-8 conversion. I have been talking about it for over 20 years. Actually have most of the big parts together. Just need more money. Any info on perils and pitfalls, improvements, etcetera, will be helpful. Love the site. Thanks for putting in the effort. I know it has to be a chore. Gary Mierzwa |
Please keep up the good work (and I know it is work). I can not wait to logon almost every day and hope there is an update to check out. Thanks so much for the site. Jennings |
This is one of the best sites I have encountered on any subject! |
I bought my '65 Corvair Corsa 180 hp turbo in the Fall of 1964. What a beautiful and radical design at the time (and still is beautiful). I traded my '63 Impala on the spot and bought my Corvair. I still own it. It's in the garage and it has the original brake shoes, believe it or not. The turbo bearing has frozen and I am looking for a qualified Corvair mechanic to rebuild it. Telescopic English wood steering wheel, chrome fuel lines, chrome oil lines, chrome intake manifold, chrome dipstick, map pockets, etcetera. What an awesome car! I've enjoyed my Corvair as no other car before or since. Amazing feel of power and control. Sincerely, |
Gary, Looking for hints on repairs, tuning 4-carbs, etc. |
The site is really good. I enjoyed it very much, but you need to add more early models. I am 16 and bought my 1961 Monza 900 with my own money shortly before I turned 15. I really like the car, but need some help with some of the technical things. It has about 140,000 miles on it. It is all black with the higher hp engine in it. Any help on fuel/intake work would be appreciated. Jonathan Pevey |
Have a good selection of Corvairs. I'm partial to racing V-8 Corvairs. Mr. Coffin (Bob Ed) should be encouraged to write some technical summaries of projects. I will be there when I can. JH |
Hello Gary, I stumbled onto your site this weekend while surfing at an in-law's house. You have a fantastic site, perhaps the best site on any subject that I have found. I was pleased to find all the Yenko Stinger information, and autocross information in general. There are a few things I would like to see on your site. I would like to see a good list of parts substitutions, swaps and custom mods for Corvair applications, i.e., aluminum finned drum brakes off a 19xx Chevrolet xx will work in place of, etc. I would like to see detailed technical info such as disc brake conversions, fuel injection adaptations/conversions, custom turbo installations, etc. I know there are a lot of swaps out there that will work—not sure what they are though—and this could be quite a long list (book), but it could be very good information. Thank you for the hard work on the site. Best regards, |
Where can I find a late model ('65-69) convertible with a decent body for my 15 year old daughter and I to restore as a daily driver for her? |
I have a '65 Monza coupe with 110 hp. I was wondering about the different colors and options available on the '65 models. I really don't know what to expect while I'm in the process of rebuilding my car. It has about 68,000 miles on it, and has some minor rust in one of the rear quarter panels. It also has an oil leak problem, which I hear is a common problem to deal with. |
Good site with good information! Great image quality. |
Cool site! |
My wife and I had a 1965 Monza convertible for our first brand new car. It was Evening Orchid (an extremely rare color) with a black top and interior, and it had the 110 hp engine. Our second Corvair was a 1964 Monza 2-door. It was yellow and we bought it used to go to work and back. It ran forever! Our third Corvair was a 1966 Monza convertible with the 140 hp, 4-carb engine. It was red with a red interior and white top. I bought it to restore, but finances precluded that. We sold it to a nice lady from the Cactus Corvair Club. My mom and dad also owned a 1965 Corvair 500 sport coupe. It was red with a fawn interior, and had the 95 hp engine. We sure had a lot of Corvairs! I get most upset when people ridicule Corvairs without ever having owned one or ridden in one. I always do my best to set them straight. Corvairs were, and still are, one of the most innovative, high quality vehicles that Chevrolet ever offered. |
My dad bought a new coupe in 1962, unfortunately before I was born, and got rid of it in '64 (for a Studebaker Avanti). My cousin restored a '66 Corvair convertible in 1985. I'd like to get a '65-69 coupe and put a Crown V-8 kit in it. |
It's very difficult to get any literature on Corvairs in the United Kingdom. I am just about to buy and early Corvair 900 and I know that rebuilding it will be a bit of a nightmare. I will be using the Web a lot to get info from forums, etc. Great site. Thanks, |
So... what about the radios, man! Did they rock or did they tank. Could ya blast 'em, or what? Chris |
I believe you did a great job on this site. The human interest stories were good, the variety was very good, the photography was very good, the organization, very good, the graphics, very good, the generalized information, very good, and the sources, very good. Thank you for your efforts. |
I have always dreamed of owning a Corvair but until the Internet age, information on them was hard to find. Keep up the good work. |
Gary, We're an exclusive crowd, we 'vair aficionados. I've never had the pleasure of owning one. My best bud had a '63 with a 4-speed tranny. Unfortunately, the transaxle died as a result of his running it dry, despite my nagging him to get the seal fixed, and to run it WITH oil. Keep on keepin' on, Gary. Aarne |
I'm 36, and a Corvair fanatic from way back. Although I've never even sat in one, I own nearly all the books on the car. I'm searching for a '66 Corsa coupe 140/4 just like your dad had. Whenever I feel discouraged, I get my fix on your incredible site. A million thanks. Feel free to e-mail me anytime. Vair on, |
This is definitely one of my favorite sites. I like the Extra! section a lot for useful info on different models, paint colors, etc. I can't believe you put so much time and effort into this site—but then I can too—I'm a car but also. I've been looking for a Corvair for awhile, and after reading the information on your site, I'll well prepared. I'll also use the VIN number link when I do find a Corvair that interests me. Thanks, Gary. Buzz Kutz |
I liked the site. It had a lot of interesting Corvairs and Yenko Stingers. My favorite was the 12-cylinder Jaguair. I was also wondering if you had free pamphlets or brochures. If you do, please e-mail me and let me know. Thanks, |
Was hoping to find some tech info on the 'vair, as I have a chance to pick up a '68 500 coupe fairly cheaply. It has been sitting for 8 years and leaks oil EVERYWHERE! Will keep checking back monthly to see how the site goes. Thanks for ALL your hard work! Rick Reist |
I'm in the very beginning stages of my restoration, but because about 25 years have gone by since I did some serious wrenching, I'll need some help. I think the net should help me to locate resource material. |
CORVAIRS ROCK! |
Ralph Nader for president? Now that's a scary thought! |
Gary, I've had your website hot-linked for awhile. I love it! My wife likes to see what my car may look like when finished. Thanks for such a wonderful site. It is very nice! Randy Perry |
Gary, I got on for the first time, thanks to Russ B., and had a hoot! I can not wait to get busy on my two ('61 & '62) Lakewoods, and make this Corv-8 scream! Thanks, |
Impressed with what I have seen so far! Love my new wallpaper! Duane Hoffman |
I really enjoyed your site. It contains tons of info, and great pictures. Thanks for making it happen. |
Hello Gary, Can you add a picture of a '65 Corsa 140 in Ermine White with a red interior? Can you tell me the correct location and size of the pinstripe on the '65 Corsa? |
Thanks for the fantastic site. I know it takes a lot of work, and it is appreciated. |
Great site! I had a '63 Monza from 1983-1986. Have the itch again for a late model Corsa coupe or convertible. You're site gives me a good scratch. |
Thanks for your time and desire to keep the dream alive. |
You guys rock! |
I was so impressed with this website. As an automotive writer/photographer, I've seen many websites of many marques and makes, but I've never seen such a great one! I was trying to learn more about the car and so far, I believe I've found what I was looking for. Keep up the good work. Best regards, |
One of the best I have ever seen. A friend who was at the convention told me about this. Keep up the great work. Dick |
In all sincerity, you have a nice site. Keep up the Corvair spirit! |
Where is a good source to buy a used Corsa? In which years was A/C available? Is there a source of info where it breaks down available factory options according to years? Thanks for your site! Ron Blachut |
Send me any info on V-8 conversions. I want to convert my Corvair. |
You've created a real "destination" web site, one of the best I've ever visited. It would be great if there were more cars listed for sale, including fully restored and Concours vehicles. |
I am buying a '67 Corvair for $2,700 and the engine has a tick in it. The guy said that it has solid lifters in it and that is why it makes the noise. Does the 110 engine have solid lifters? |
I recently bought a 1965 Corsa convertible and I love it. I paid $800 for it and it is in mint condition. The guy was going to scrap the car. My brother has a '65 Corsa hardtop that my grandfather owned. My car is Dukes of Hazzard orange and I want to paint it, but I don't know what a good color would be. It has a new black interior in it. We were thinking black with silver racing stripes. What do you think? Please write back! |
My son forwarded the site to me. I owned a new, Ember Red '64 Monza convertible in '64, which we drove and raced for 11 years. It was the only car that I regretted selling. I now have a Torch Red '65 Monza convertible, which I just restored. I hope to use it for as many years as the first one. |
Located in Connecticut with a '66 Monza convertible and unable to get someone to do the motor over. Any help would be great. |
Personally speaking, this is the only Corvair site worth visiting. The design is elegant and it is packed with info. Every once in a while I reach a new level of frustration with my '62, and I dream about giving it all up and buying a motorcycle, but then when I visit this site, it restores my faith in Corvairs. Thanks, and keep up the good work! Ian |
