Rick Norris Crown Corv-8
In an earlier installation, Rick used a Clark's Corvair Parts disc brake kit which he described as a straightforward bolt-in and a good set-up. However, he discovered he had a clearance problem in his particular installation because of the size of the Clark's calipers, so he swapped them out for the Bob Coffin units at right. They are light weight GM metric units, and use larger 11" diameter, vented rotors. |

This view shows how close the ends of the bracket are to Rick's 15" wheels. The bracket can be trimmed if necessary, but Rick chose not to, so they might accommodate 12" rotors in future, if necessary. In the lower right hand corner of the shot, notice the original Crown sway bar, mounted with Polyurethane bushings. |

This view shows the final installation of the rotor and caliper. Bob Coffin includes all the mounting hardware with the disc brake package.

Custom 2-piece "Mini-lite" style wheels are used all around. At right, we see the big vented disc and caliper showing through the spiders. Fronts are 15 x 7" mounted with B.F. Goodrich Comp TA 225/50 ZR15s. Rears are 15 x 8s with 245/50 ZR15s These hyper-speed-rated boots should help keep the car ahead of the competition and between the ditches. |
