There were over 150,000 late model Monza sport coupes built between the 1965 and '69 model years, making it by far the best selling series of Corvair. The fine example at right has been preserved by Abe and Josh Weaver. The period-correct Cragar S/S wheels and dressed black-wall tires beef up the look of an already handsome coupe.

When Monza buyers ordered the optional 140 horsepower base Corsa engine, they could also choose a Powerglide automatic transmission, an option not available to Corsa buyers; perhaps because a 2-speed automatic was not in keeping with the performance-oriented image of the flagship Corsa.
