Hot Rod Magazine's 1963 special publication Corvair Performance Handbook featured an exclusive interview with Corvair performance expert, Bill Thomas.

Chrome engine shrouds, as pictured on the cover, are not currently considered a good idea, as they tend to contain, rather than dissipate, engine heat. They look good, though.

Of course, if you're going to hop up your Corvair, you might need a jacket patch with the famous Corvette style crossed flags. Wearing the patch alone will add 10 horsepower to your ride. It won't? You're kidding!
