Corvair Memorabilia and Collectibles
On this page, we remember the early model Corvair. Here we see two examples of the early logo. The patch to the immediate right mimics the Corvair emblem that appeared on the horn button (far right) during the first 3 years of production. Gold lettering was used on the '60 model horn button, and silver was the order of the day on the '62 and '63 models. |

The promotional post card depicts a new-for-1961, Corvair 700 Lakewood wagon, equipped with wide white wall, bias-ply tires. The promotional artwork suggests it is the perfect car for the mobile young family! For a good look at the real McCoy, check this site's Extra! section for a feature on Doug Englin's 1962 Monza wagon. |
At right, an Entex scale model of the Monza GT design study, a prototype based on the early model Corvair. While it never saw the assembly line, much to the disappointment of those who believed it might, the Monza GT fueled many a young person's dreams. It also influenced the design of the second generation Corvair's rear cove, as you'll see if you have a look at the real GT in the GT/SS section of this site. The GT also bears a striking resemblance to the early 70s Opel GT, offered by General Motors first in Europe, and for a short time, in North America. |
