Corvair Atlanta's Springfest '99

Another Virtual 'Vairs member, Earl Jones, drove to Springfest in this '66 Monza convertible owned by his grandson, Logan Jones. The car's been in the family for about 25 years.

The unusual color caught my eye. The car's been repainted a metallic gray Cadillac color, which suits it very nicely. Originally, the Monza was red with a white interior and top.

The convertible has a 140 horsepower engine, 4-speed trans-axle with Positraction, a power top, AM/FM radio, Corsa instrumentation and a custom interior with a sport steering wheel. Exterior touches include a luggage rack, gas door guard and mag style wheel covers.

In the background of this photo of the Jones' Monza, we catch a glimpse of Ken Arnold's show stopping 1963 Rampside. We did an owners' feature on Ken's truck a couple of months ago. If you haven't seen the details of his build, which includes a small-block V-8 and Corvette IRS, have a look for it in the Extra! section of this site.

'63 Spyder with '64 grill bar (56559 bytes)

Yet another Virtual 'Vairs couple, Rev. Robert and Kay Hill, traveled to Springfest in their Corvair. This one is a '63 Spyder retrofitted with a '64 grill bar and a 140 HP late model engine in place of the original turbo-charged engine.
