Corvairs at Blackhawk 2001
The Regal Red 140 4-speed Corsa pictured below is owned by Bill Elliot of Lake Barrington, Illinois. It's always great to see a 1966 Corsa sport coupe in such great shape. Only 7,330 were built in the U.S., and a mere 682 came out of the Canadian plant in Oshawa, Ontario. Note the original 13 x 6" Minilite wheels. |
"What a blast," Bill exclaimed, describing his first experience on a road race course. "Should have a few more ponies to play with next time," he added, explaining that he had just purchased a soon to be installed turbo-charged engine built by fellow Corvair racer, Warren LeVeque. |
Dan Gianotti winds out in his Corsa with its paint job paying homage to the late great NASCAR racer, Dale Earnhardt. Other photos and details of this car appear elsewhere on this site, in an earlier Blackhawk feature in the Extra! section and in the Yenko section. |
