Daytona 2000 - Corvair Speedweek
Silvair is a 1969 Monza coupe owned by Joshua Weaver of Concord, North Carolina. The car was one of the last six thousand to make it through the factory doors before the Corvair's ten model year run came to an end on May 14, 1969. Its paint is so shiny and reflective that it takes on a greenish tinge from the surrounding turf. Its no-fuss, no-muss, pure stock appearance is enhanced by period correct Cragar S/S mags. It makes memories come rushing back; thoughts of hot summer nights in a '65 Corsa coupe, cruising with the windows down, the note of a 140's duals, the wind in my girlfriend's hair, time standing still. |
Silvair shows its true color on the asphalt behind the host hotel, with an early and an Ultra Van in the background. |
