2001: A Corvair Odyssey

Glenn Demoske of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin showed his Artesian Turquoise 1966 Corvair Corsa with great success. Entered in the Concours d'Elegance Modified, Late Closed class, the turbo-charged sport coupe  earned 96.49 and a Gold award. The achievement elevated the car to CORSA's Senior Division.

While to the casual observer Glenn's car might not appear to be modified, its larger than stock diameter rally wheels force it into a modified class. I wasn't able to determine if the car had other modifications because I was too busy adding it to the list of cars I'd like to own.

Later in the afternoon I stopped to snap a shot of another turbo coupe; this time a '65 Corsa. I had seen this car racing at Blackhawk Farms Raceway earlier in the week, which might explain why it is missing its passenger side windshield wiper.

Rally wheels are a popular choice of late model Corvair owners. The bolt pattern is correct, and they are available in a number of diameters and offsets. Rally wheels were originally used on Corvettes, Camaros and other high performance Chevrolets, so their use on the Corvair is totally appropriate.
