Stinger |
Below, we see a front view of David LaPorte's Stage II Stinger sitting to the right of Paul Fox's YS#054. Paul purchased his Stinger from its original owner, Tony Phelps of Fort Wayne, IN, when it had only 47,500 miles on the odometer. The cool pair was photographed together at the CORSA convention in St. Louis. |
Seen earlier in this section, sitting on a trailer is Dan Gianotti's "Stingerized" Corsa. I thought you might enjoy seeing this car at speed. The Stinger clone is equipped with a 140hp engine with a slight over-bore and a center mount single 4-barrel set-up and a "basically stock" trans-axle. |

Stingers or near-Stingers, it doesn't really matter when Corvair people get together, as they did when this group shot was taken at the CORSA convention in St. Louis in 1998. It's just great to see such a rare piece of automotive history being preserved, shown and raced! Thanks to the following for contributing to the Yenko section: Bryan Blackwell, Jim Burkhard, Joe Curran, Charlie "Bud" Doerge, Stan East, Bill Elliot, Seth Emerson, John Gray, Greg Hanlin, Ken Holm, Pete Koehler, Robert Landers, Brenda and David LaPorte, Frank Walker and Gary Wood.
