Corvair Atlanta's Springfest '99
And now, something special for the site visitors who've asked for more coverage of the early model. |

I have to point out off the top that this car, a 1960 Monza club coupe, was absolutely perfect! My apologies for the poor exposure on the photo at right. I made a light metering error when taking the picture. In fact, the shot was taken in midday, with bright sunshine, but my metering error caused the cameras lens to stop down, overexposing the upper surfaces of the car, and underexposing the shadowed areas. I had other views, but they suffered from even more severe metering problems. |

This close up of the concave front fascia and unique 1960 Corvair "wings" turned out a little better! As any Corvair fan knows, the concave treatment on the front end was unique to the 1960 model, and was changed in subsequent early model years. |
|
Also unique to 1960 was the air cleaner arrangement seen at right. The body colored engine compartment was also peculiar to the '60 model, at least in cars produced in the United States. Canadian built cars used body color engine and trunk compartments for all years of production. |
|
The 1960 Corvair engine displaced 140 cubic inches, and produced an advertised 80 horsepower. Displacement would be increased to 145 cu. in. in 1961 and 164 cu. in. in 1964. |
