2001: A Corvair Odyssey
In this day of instant communication via the Internet, it's always a pleasure to meet in person, someone you've become familiar with through the Web. As I went about the business of photographing the cars on display, I met Russ Brandenburg of Cincinnati, Ohio, the founder of the V-8 Registry, the Corvair group dedicated to V-8 converted Corvairs. I'd heard about Russ and his V-8 convertible through another V-8 Registry member and Corv-8 owner, Rick Norris, who helped me put together an article on the group. It appears in the Extra! section of this site. Click here to view it. It will open in a new browser window which you can then close to return to this feature. Below, we have a better look at Russ's mid-engine ride. |
The Corv-8's multicolor paint scheme is a real eye-grabber. A first glance might convince the casual observer that this is a stock bodied convertible, at least until they hear the rumble of the V-8 or spot the custom engine cover where the back seat used to be! |
