Rick Norris Crown Corv-8

Bobby the Gun posed for the camera as James and John fit up the passenger side door. The Cadillac White Pearl color and clear coats had been applied and the protective masking had been removed from the trunk area, interior and power train. Rick noted that even with the very careful masking of the engine, transaxle and rear suspension components, a fine mist of clear coat found its way to most of the hardware, making it necessary to spend a few extra hours cleaning up in preparation for the Concours.

Corsa cove color

In this shot we see John still wrestling with the fit of the passenger door as a coat of clear cures on the rear cove area, which was painted with the Clark's Corvair Parts repro version of factory Argent Silver, the color used exclusively on all 1965 and '66 Corsa series coupes and convertibles. This Monza, from my perspective at least, has earned the right to wear the cove color associated with the Corvair that represented the apex of factory performance development.

Homeward bound

With barely 3 weeks left for final assembly and detailing, Rick bolted on the original front bumper with tow bar brackets and chain bridle attached and winched the freshly painted car onto the trailer for the ride home.

Note the cowl area is still in Corroless paint. It would later be treated to a couple of coats of chassis black, after which the exterior cowl vent panel was reinstalled.
