Rick Norris Crown Corv-8

Our story begins in 1993, when Rick attended the first ever meeting of the Corvair Registry at the Corvair Society of America (CORSA) national convention in Williamsburg, Virginia.

Rick's in the second row of this happy looking group of Corvair Registry originals. He's the fellow with the CORSA cap and sunglasses.

I zoomed in on the photo to see what was on his tee-shirt. It reads, "A man's garage is his castle."

In 1994, Rick purchased his Corv-8 and began his project.

First V-8 Registry meeting

This is what Rick's '66 looked like when he got it home. At this particular moment, he's just completed a 500 mile tow from Wilmington, North Carolina, at a maximum speed of 50 miles per hour. It's no wonder he's a little frustrated that the tow dolly is giving him a problem!

The body was in good shape, with rust in the usual places (base of the windshield, floor, left rear quarter panel and over the wheel openings).

The first step was to get the car into his garage.
