This is the Franklin Mint's 1960 Corvair Monza, packaged as Motor Trend magazine's "Car of the Year" for 1960. The 2:24 scale die-cast example is highly detailed.

AMT models of the late model Corvair were available is all model years. The Corsa, offered in 1965 and '66 included Fitch Sprint modifications such as the Sprint roof add-on. The Monza pictured here offers both Sprint and Yenko Stinger parts.

I can remember building two versions of a similar kit in 1965, one pure stock version, and the other heavily modified with a frame and front-mounted V-8 and blower sticking up in front of the windshield. Neither one survived more than 30 years of moving around.
