Ron & Doris Blachut's 1966 Corsa

There's no doubt, this '66 appeals to the purist in me. While I also appreciate custom Corvairs, I've got a soft spot for well equipped stock Corsas. This one has a tasteful compliment of options including tinted windshield, simulated wood grain steering wheel, wire wheel covers, whitewall tires, bumper guards, rear deck antenna, gas filler edge guard and door edge guards.

Soon, it will have a factory original AM/FM radio and the dual circuit braking system of the 1967-69 Corvair. Even a purist has to agree that while it might tempting to stay with the '66 master cylinder for the purpose of keeping the car original, it's hard to argue against the added safety the dual system provides. After all, running this beauty into the back end of anything else on the road would have to be Ron's worst nightmare!

Since these photos were taken, Ron installed halogen headlights and taillight bulbs and a Daytime Running Lights module that turns the low-beams on at half brightness while driving. According to safety studies I have seen, this will increase by about 30% his odds of being seen by other drivers.

From its personalized license plate to the tips of its stock dual exhaust system, this '66 Corsa is pure poetry. Let's wish Ron and Doris lots of sunshine and healthy retirement years in which to enjoy the verses!
