Daytona 2000 - Corvair Speedweek

If stuck me as strange that all of the convertibles in Concours were displayed with their tops up. While it's understandable that the judges have to examine the condition of the top, mechanism and boot, from a spectator's point of view, it would be better if the cars were displayed with the tops down. When I mentioned this to Chuck Armer, owner of the '65 Corsa show car, Darth Vair, and a '65 convertible known as Madeira, he pointed out that in southern sunlight on a hot day, the vinyl seats can get hot enough to seriously burn the legs of a person entering the car while wearing shorts. What do I know... I'm from Canada. We'd spread a towel on the seat!

Pictured below are two late model convertibles, a 1966 Corsa and a '69 Monza.
