Daytona 2000 - Corvair Speedweek
I first photographed this Lemonwood Yellow 1966, 140 4-speed Corsa convertible at Corvair Atlanta's Springfest '99 in Helen, Georgia. According to Corvair Atlanta member, Chuck Armer, the car is currently powered by a 110 engine, and is owned by Les Campbell. The Corsa was transported to Daytona on a trailer. |

Walter Carter of Norfolk, Virginia, brought his Ermine White 1965 Monza sport sedan to the convention. The car is an all original 40,000 mile car. Site visitors sometimes express surprise that there was a late model sedan. They are getting pretty rare, although thousands were produced. U.S. production totaled 52,811 cars; 37,157 in 1965, 12,497 in 1966 and 3,157 in 1967, the last year of production for the sport sedan. |

Walter's car is a virtual duplicate of an air-conditioned sedan owned by Jim Bryant of Texas, which is featured in the Extra! section of this site. That article includes interior and engine compartment photos. Click here to open a new window and visit the feature. |
