For added safety, Earl replaced the stock 1965 single-chamber brake master cylinder with a '67 and later dual unit. The spare tire was relocated from the engine compartment to the trunk. This arrangement moves some weight to the front of the car and improves access in the engine compartment. When I chatted with Earl during the Concours event, he mentioned it was the last time he intended to enter the car in competition. When I late heard about the car winning a Gold Award, I knew Earl was happy that his efforts were officially recognized. |
