2001: A Corvair Odyssey
Scoring 96.40 points in Senior Division Street Stock, Late class was this '69 Monza convertible belonging to Tony Vizyak of Monroeville, Ohio. The car is rare—one of only 521 Corvair Monza convertibles built during the 1969 model year—and is equipped with the standard 95 hp engine and 3-speed manual transaxle. Regular production options include front and rear bumper guards, tinted glass, remote control driver's side mirror, door edge guards and fuel door guard. The luggage rack was a popular accessory on convertibles, giving the car grand touring flair. |
Above, we see another luggage rack equipped convertible, a Butternut Yellow 1966 Monza with white and black interior. This Corvair has a standard steering wheel on an optional telescopic steering column, a combination I've never seen before. The car's other optional equipment included the high-performance 140 horsepower engine, Powerglide, dual outside rear view mirrors, rear deck antenna, bumper guards, simulated wire wheel covers and white wall tires. |
