2001: A Corvair Odyssey
The North Texas Corvair Association (NCTA) is arguably one the finest local chapters of the Corvair Society of America. Each year, many of its members travel the hundreds of miles to international conventions. The club also maintains one of the best Corvair sites on the Internet (see the links section, under Corvair Clubs/Organizations). Pictured below is the 1966 Corsa sport coupe owned by NCTA member Mike Dobie of Lewisville, Texas, a former winner of the coveted Ed Cole Award. His car has been restored 3 times and has over 200,000 miles on the odometer! |
Below, we see the Corsa's stock gauge cluster, factory air-conditioning louvers. The radio is a optional stock AM pushbutton unit. The wood-grained sport steering wheel was a regular production option, and the shift knob is an accessory dress-up item. |
Competing in Senior Division at the Chicago convention, Mike's '66 earned Gold in Modified, Late Closed class, scoring 94.73 points in the Concours d'Elegance. |
